Yeah, that's right, [ he murmured quietly in response to the tap comment, playing into it. His brows came together at the last comment. If things were that bad, well, he could understand how he fell on the list of people to call. ] I'll be there soon, babe; just promise you won't leave without me babe, no matter how cute they might be. [ Light and playful, though hopefully a clear enough acknowledgement.
Emerick had started moving when he'd gotten the vague location of where Moonlight was. His agent had already picked up on the clue to call for a cab once they hung up, so it was just a matter of getting dressed and waiting. (Emerick didn't even know to be glad analogue clocks didn't really exist anymore: the ticking would drive him nuts in moments like these.) While he wasn't particularly afraid of 6th Street like he was some of the other gangs, he also knew that the small, well-armed militia would certainly cull anything they felt was a threat.
He paid his driver then stepped out in front of the dive. Emerick had contacts in 6th Street - they kept such a close eye on the NCPD he often go his leads from them rather than the net - but he'd never been to this particular dive. He'd always lived more in Valentino territory than 6th Street, really, and he highly doubted he'd be recognized here. Stepping into the bar he felt eyes on him - new person, no affiliation any specific way - and they slid off of him as he moved inside, looking for Moonlight.
It wasn't hard: the man stood out more than he did. He waved, words tumbling out of his mouth as he joined Moonlight in the booth. ] Hey! I'm so sorry! [ There was familiarity in his movements, but it was clear he had no desire to overstep boundaries despite the act. He acted familiar, but anyone watching closely would notice the way Emerick was careful not to touch Moonlight. It was on Moonlight to set the boundaries of how far he wanted this farce to go. Regardless, Moonlight was treated to Emerick's best puppy dog eyes. ] Forgive me?
Hmm, no promises, but I'll try to be good. [ Moonlight sets his phone on the table, folding his hands together, and waits.
The wait, thankfully, is not too long. Emerick spots him before he can much react aside from a warm smile. Emerick doesn't touch, but Moonlight gives little time for anyone to notice that detail. He leans in a faint breeze of warm cologne, fingers curling against the back of Emerick's neck, to pull him into a kiss.
It's not a long kiss, necessarily, but it is hardly a peck, either. He sits with their hips and shoulders still touching when he breaks the kiss, and hums thoughtfully as though considering whether to forgive his impromptu lover. ]
I suppose, [ He says, trailing as though he is not quite finished. He adds then, ] if you go get us both a drink. You know what I like. [ Moonlight is quite aware Emerick has no idea, but he's also fairly sure Emerick wouldn't pick anything too wild and therefore, he wouldn't mind it. ]
[ Perhaps it's a blessing that Moonlight didn't waste time to play this little lie up: it meant that Emerick couldn't overthink anything. The downside of it was that Emerick was caught a little off-guard as Moonlight leaned in and he was awash in that cologne, surprised as Moonlight pulled him so their lips met. As shameful as it may be, he'd thought of this and wondered what it'd be like to kiss Moonlight. It was something he never really entertained for long: he knew that Moonlight existed so far out of his league that it would never happen, but here they were, even if it was all for show and meant nothing.
Emerick could feel himself start to blush - that annoying heat settling in his cheeks and crawling up the back of his neck - and he was embarrassed that it happened at all. He could only hope that Moonlight was the only one who would notice (because he just knew that Moonlight wouldnāt miss it). It was made worse as he realized that there was a selfish part of him that wanted to push this kiss into something more. He was distinctly aware of the fact that this wasnāt an occasion heād ever have again and that awful little part of him wanted to capitalize on this opportunity, but like everything else in his life: he didnāt. He let it go and hid his disappointment as Moonlight pulled away with a warm smile and more familiar touch. ]
Your wish is my command. [ He gave a slight bow - cheeky, but it felt on point given he was playing for forgiveness. He got up and debated what to get Moonlight as he walked up to the bar, eventually settling on something that was lighter, on the fruity side, and avoiding whiskeys. For his own part, there was an American stout on tap that actually did interest Emerick - clearly that heād order it surprised the bartender, and the two seemed to have a conversation about it that left Emerick smiling easily as he picked up both glasses and walked back to Moonlight.
He set the glasses down and settled back in next to Moonlight, one arm stretching along the back of the booth behind Moonlight. While he was settling in to be mostly ornamental so that Moonlight could return whatever he was doing, but he was listening to the conversations around them, mostly trying to gauge if they were still under heavy scrutiny or not, taking a sip of his beer to cover his lack of conversation. ]
[ Moonlight eyes the drink and gives Emerick a sidelong smile he doesn't care to hide. 'Light and fruity'... he supposes he gives off that particular vibe, but his preference - somewhat ironically given Emerick's deliberate avoidance - is scotch. (Given he prefers the higher end stuff though, perhaps it's for the better Emerick didn't get it this time.)
Moonlight settles in when Emerick's arm winds around his shoulders, hand drifting to rest on the other's upper thigh. He sips at his drink, gaze tipping towards Emerick's and lingering there. In reality, he's wondering just what the other is doing. To anyone else, it looks like someone just mooning at their lover. Moonlight leans a little, lips nearly brushing Emerick's ear. ]
Is it good? [ He grins a little when he pulls back enough for Emerick to look at him - he knows damn well how to use his charms.
Some attention turned away when Moonlight called Emerick - thanks, no doubt, to Emerick's convincing performance - and more turned away to see the two men greeting each other like lovers. The biggest man in the room is apparently still not convinced, from what Moonlight can see, muttering in annoyance to his buddies in a tone that barely needs audial cyberware to pick up. It mostly amounts to 'I don't trust him' and 'he's got no business bein' here,' to which his buddies are grumbling back in agreement, but also don't seem inclined to act on it. At least, not in the moment. ]
[ Scotch - or the whiskey family in general, really - wasn't what Emerick would have guessed for Moonlight. Granted, a place like this isn't somewhere Emerick would necessarily bother to even try the whiskey, or scotch, or bourbon. But mixers helped to mask cheap liquor, and cheap liquor was most of what Emerick could afford given his general habit of scraping by.
As he felt Light's hand come to rest on his thigh Emerick, again, felt a gentle blush spread across his face. Not as much as when Light had kissed him - nowhere close - but still enough that he knew Light saw it (he could feel the other man looking at him, he was acutely aware of it, it was all he could do to keep his hand from shaking) and Emerick couldn't help but wonder what Moonlight was thinking. He might be subtle enough to pull off this ruse to the strangers in this bar but Moonlight wasn't exactly a stranger (anymore) and could likely see his struggling.
Emerick had played this exact role before, and on multiple occasions. Every time before it was with women he had no interest in - act the lover, save the ladies the hassle of men bothering them on their night out, or be the shield against a jilted ex that was too much a coward to approach if they had another man on their arm. Some of the easiest work he'd ever had in his life (to the point he didn't even charge for it) but it was easy because he had no attachment to the ladies. Here, however, he had a crush, and it made this hard. He knew it was all bullshit but an awful little part of him hoped desperately it wasn't. It was a marvel he could still string together a sentence without stuttering.
When he heard the other's voice so close to his ear he could feel the hair at the back of his neck bristle, a shiver run down his spine and collecting there in mild discomfort (longing). He could only hope that he was still playing the part convincingly: a man giving his love a warm smile as his attention turned back to Light. Inside, though, he felt like the same scared, nervous kid who grew a crush on his best friend but went home to be bullied by an insecure man who couldn't stand the thought of a gay son. ]
It's pretty good; a little on the bitter side. [ His reply was in a low voice, as if speaking a secret only for the two of them. The way he said it suggested he didn't like the bitterness (which, really, he didn't like hops), though it certainly wasn't going to deter him from finishing the pint -- his father had taught him to never waste a pint of good beer. (Good was anything you spent money on.) ] Definitely one of the better stouts I've had. [ A small pause as he glanced down at his glass, then looked back to Moonlight. ] You can try it if you want.
[ Moonlight hums, tone thoughtful. ] Alright. [ He doesn't reach for the glass, though. Instead, he leans to kiss Emerick again, head tipped and lips parted.
He's well aware of Emerick being flustered, the stain in his cheeks and the tension in his tone. Normally he didn't care to be overtly romantic in public - though it has been a few years since he had a partner, anyway - but this was both to put off any suspicion, and, a little, to tease Emerick.
He could help himself, but decides not to; it's cute. If he didn't know better, he would guess Emerick is into him. He assumes not; he trusts Emerick a little more with each gig, and each week that goes by without blackmail popping up through his agent. Still, he thinks about the knowledge the other man has every time they interact. (Not that men and women alike haven't tried blackmailing Moonlight into sleeping with them, but Emerick doesn't seem the sort. It's a strange tangle of assumptions of intention, more than a little contradictory. Moonlight doesn't think about it. ]
Not bad. [ Moonlight decides this once he's done exploring - supposedly - the taste of the stout from Emerick's tongue. His smile is decidedly impish. He gives Emerick's thigh a little squeeze. ]
[ Emerick knew he shouldnāt be surprised that Moonlight accepted the offer: they were on a ādateā and this was Night City, after all. He was thrown a little off guard that Moonlight was going to kiss him (again). Heād wanted it when Moonlight first kissed him, that much was absolutely true, and it didnāt change just because a little time had passed. He knew he couldnāt think about it or else heād do something stupid and fuck all of this up, so he leaned in to it.
He was glad that he did: this was one of those moments that heād known definitively the wouldnāt have, and if heād passed this up heād spend a long time kicking himself over it. Someone at Moonlightās level would never even consider this with someone like Emerick so he may as well enjoy it for the all too short time it would last. ]
I- [ He had to pause to clear his throat, covering up a stutter and to give him a moment to⦠Well, to say āget his bearingsā implied a lot more than what Emerick actually managed. ] Iām glad you approve.
[ The smile that Moonlight gave him coupled with the squeeze of his thigh made him pause. Was Moonlight actually flirting with him, or was the other man just toying with him? Emerick was so used to being the target of cruelty that he genuinely couldnāt tell. He was letting his feelings muddle all of this, he knew, but it was hard not to after that kiss. He just had to keep reminding himself he was just creating a distraction so that Moonlight wasnāt a person of interest. Thatās all this was. ] I thought it wasnāt really your thing.
Usually it's not. [ He doesn't mind them, but it's best he doesn't indicate Emerick doesn't know his preferences. The smile widens, and he looks at Emerick through his lashes. ] You make it taste better.
[ The big man casts another glance their way, and Moonlight casually loops his arms around Emerick's shoulders, pressing a kiss to his neck. ] Tell me if he's gonna start something, [ he tells Emerick, voice low and next to his ear again. The music is loud enough it would be difficult to hear him with normal hearing, but Moonlight guesses - what with Emerick's skillset - that he doesn't have 'normal' hearing. ]
[ Emerick silently cursed himself as he blushed more when Moonlight said he made it taste better. Surely it was all just part of the act, surely it wasn't real, surely Moonlight wasn't actually talking about him, but his wires were getting crossed and Emerick wanted it to be true, he wanted Moonlight to mean it and to be talking about him. He didn't want it to be all smoke and mirrors. By the time he looked down and smiled to hide the blush he wasn't sure if he was cursing himself for the blush, or for the hope that this was somehow not part of the ruse.
He hummed low and quiet to confirm that he heard what Moonlight had said, feeling that shock of needles down his spine as he felt the kiss at his neck, and again with Moonlight's breath at his ear. He was starting to actually get aroused now and this was what he had to keep reigned in, make sure Moonlight didn't notice. He buried his own face into Moonlight's neck, pretending to nuzzle him so that he could make sure the man across the way couldn't read his lips as he spoke now. Emerick's breath and lips brushing against Moonlight's ear, speaking just barely loud enough for Moonlight to hear assuming he had normal hearing. ]
[ Moonlight laughs as Emerick leans in, tipping his head to allow Emerick more room without exposing his words. He curls his hand against the back of the other's neck, nails caressing the nape lightly. ] Mm, but you just got here, babe.
[ He protests with a playful tone, free hand trailing Emerick's arm before returning to his thigh, higher this time. ] I guess... at least let's finish the drinks you paid for. [ And quickly, preferably. Moonlight is quite sure he's found as much information as he's going to, at least this routeā although now that he's called on Emerick, he supposes maybe eavesdropping was a better task for him in the first place. ]
[ At the protest Emerick had to laugh a little, lightly. It was in part in response to Moonlight, yes, but it was almost more of a well-disguised anxious response to Moonlight's escalating acquaintance with his body. He had to be more than aware of what he was doing to Emerick at this point, and Emerick was growing convinced that Moonlight was mocking him at this point. Surely the other man could tell Emerick was struggling with this. ]
I know I just got here, but if I knew you were like this I woulda asked you to just meet me at home. [ He chided playfully, just about pulling Moonlight into his lap as he smiled and looked at the other man adoringly now that he had the color in his face under control. ] Okay babe, sounds fair.
[ He was giving Moonlight all of his obvious attention, though he was still listening carefully to pick up on any sign that he and Moonlight might need to leave right this second than after their drinks. ]
[ Moonlight isn't torturing on purpose - teasing, certainly, Emerick is decidedly cute when he's flustered, and the fixer is flirtatious by nature. At least, he had been once, more genuine than the empty flattery he offered now when it suited him. This was genuine, perhaps a giddiness only amplified by the danger of the situation they were in, and it allowed Moonlight to get a bit carried away. Emerick's tone, or rather, the spike in his voice stress analyzer, calmed him. He lowered his hand casually to Emerick's knee, and gave it a squeeze. Was it apologetic? ]
Oh, are you suggesting something? [ Moonlight winks, moving his hand now to drape a leg over the other man's, more comfortable than being crushed against him, less tacky than actually climbing into his lap. He picks up his drink, downing a considerable amount of it in a few swallows. Attentive as he is to Emerick, he doesn't miss the stare of one of the big man's yes men. Moonlight ignores him. ] I just missed you being away all day at work.
[ Emerick felt the way that Moonlight squeezed his knee and he found himself once again wondering if maybe all that Moonlight was doing wasn't just for show, that some part of this actually was real. He thought to himself that he should maybe let himself start to believe it as he took a drink from his beer as a way to not have to immediately respond to anything that Moonlight said.
Much like Moonlight, he'd made a dent in his pint by the time he set the glass down. His hand came to rest on Moonlight's leg, thumb absently stroking in an affectionate gesture. He relaxed into the movement and it became old hat. He definitely felt more at ease like this. Emerick didn't want to spend too much time looking at or glancing toward the big guy and his lackeys for fear that they'd grow to suspicious, trusting Moonlight to be their eyes while Emerick focused only on what he could hear at this point. It made it easier to pretend he was here on a date anyway. ]
Me? Suggest something? Like what? [ Playful, with a coy expression to match a mischievous little smile. It lasted long enough to razz Moonlight before shifting back to a more gentle, adoring smile and expression. ] I missed you too, even if it was just for the day. [ He had missed seeing Moonlight more regularly, truly. And not just because he liked the pay. As he spoke again, he gave Moonlight's leg a small squeeze. ] But seeing your smile makes it all worth it.
[ Warm amusement lingers in Moonlight's expression. Emerick seems more comfortable, now, and Moonlight surprises himself by thinking he kind of likes the soft looks the other is giving him. He leans forward, craning for a slow kiss.
When he breaks to speak, his tone is low, velvet. ] Finish your drink and maybe I'll show you exactly what I think you're suggesting. [ And then, innocently, he sits back, leg still draped over Emerick's, and picks up his drink again. He smiles as though he hadn't said anything suggestive. ]
[ Emerick melted a little under Moonlight's lips. He wanted to have this while he could. He wanted to let himself think it was real - it sure felt that way - but he knew that he was a good actor and it. It would be a mistake to forget that Moonlight likely was as well. He rather liked this, though, and he realized he wished he could have this outside of the lie.
His cheeks were, again, a light pink after Moonlight's words. He said nothing but had a conspiratorial smile as he looked at Moonlight, playing into what Moonlight said as if this were a game. His gaze lingered for a moment before he reached out to his pint and made a small show of finishing it off, looking back to Moonlight triumphantly as his hand came back to the other man's leg. ]
Well? Have I maybe dug myself out of this hole enough to earn your forgiveness? [ As if he were still trying to get back on his partner's good side after forgetting their plans. He was leaning in a little close as if eager for his response, waiting with baited breath. He was ready to go at Moonlight's word or movement, but wanting to play along to still stave off as much suspicion as possible. ]
[ Moonlight watches Emerick drink, pale gaze following the glass to his lips to the way his throat moves as he swallows, all the while his own mouth curved in a pleased, cat-like sort of way. He fingers the condensation on the outside of his own glass, then holds it around the rim to roll the bottom lightly against the tabletop as though considering his lover's plea. ]
I suppose so, [ he finally relents, and lifts his glass with a playful wink. He downs the rest of the drink with a speed one might not expect of someone with Moonlight's particular demeanor. ] After you then.
[ Emerick's unaware of the way that Moonlight was watching him, else he might have been a little self-conscious at the attentiveness. At best he considered himself gangly, and he didn't let at worst have much headspace. His expression brightens when Moonlight forgave him, smiling to hide the way his eyebrow quirked when he saw the way Moonlight managed to down the reset of his drink.
He pulled away from Moonlight and stood, offering a hand to him. He wrapped an arm around Moonlight as they headed out, admittedly stealing a glance at the gangoons that were so uncomfortable at their presence. He wanted to be sure they weren't following them out; sure he could probably talk his way out of it, but he sure didn't want to have to bother. ]
Did you drive? Or should I call a cab to get us home? [ A reasonable ask, given they were supposed to be out for drinks. ]
[ Moonlight leans into Emerick as they leave, but the other man would likely feel the slight tension in his frame. The 6th Street members, thankfully, appear to be content to let them leave - even the large one. ] Call us a cab, please.
[ He leans on Emerick, arm around the other man, but is largely quiet until they're safely in the cab and headed away from the bar. The fixer sighs, relaxing a little more into the seat. And, perhaps strangely, while he isn't hanging onto Emerick the way he was, there's something about his demeanor that's more familiar than his normal pleasant cordiality. ] Thank you for coming. I owe you.
[ Emerick wrapped an arm around Moonlight as he leaned into him, giving his shoulder a slight squeeze of reassurance: I'm here; a gentle reminder he wouldn't abandon the other man. ]
Of course. [ He pulled his Agent out and asked her to call for a cab. He let it do the heavy lifting as he slid the phone back into his pocket as he did his best not to twitch and look at every single little noise he heard. Like Moonlight, he didn't particularly try to make any conversation while they waited.
Once in the cab it wasn't until Moonlight spoke that Emerick's own tension started to wane. He glanced over at Moonlight, shifting from confident partner to his usual awkward self. He was a little more shy than usual - perhaps because of Moonlight's familiarity, or maybe due to the act they just had to put on as he thought of Moonlight kissing him. ]
It's no problem at all. Please, uh. You don't owe me anything. Really.
[ It's more of a comfort than he really expects, the way Emerick's arm wraps around him. He finds himself thinking of it even in the car, though the clear shift in the other man's mood distracts him. Amused, he can't help but tease a little. ] You sound nervous about that prospect.
[ Moonlight leans his shoulder into Emerick to play up the act, and even bats his lashes once ore twice - though were the act not already over the top, the grin he can't suppress ruins the effect anyway. ] Do you not trust me, dear?
[ It takes a second for Emerick to realize that Moonlight is teasing him but when he does he smiles with a little chuckle as his gaze falls, a little embarrassed. He looked back up to Moonlight as he felt the man lean into, losing his embarrassment in a real chuckle as Moonlight batted his lashes at him and grinned. ]
No, no, I trust you. You just... Don't have to, you don't owe me anything.
[ He wasn't trying to shut it down as much as just be clear that Moonlight didn't have to subject himself to Emerick's company if he didn't want to. Because who would willingly want to spend time with him, right? ]
[ It isn't until Emerick says it again that it dawns on Moonlightā he detests the idea of owing anyone anything, but the words had slipped out so easily, a common colloquialism. And normally, had someone insisted he didn't owe them, he would go along ā or make some small gesture just to ensure it was clear any debt real or imagined was settled.
But in this moment... oddly, he doesn't mind it. Particularly strange, given he'd spent however many weeks waiting for blackmail from Emerick to pop up through his agent. He'd slowly, steadily given up that fear, and now the idea just brings a faintly fond smile. Moonlight settles back into the seat, comfortably close. ]
If you haven't had dinner, I make a decent synth-steak. I have some ganic potatoes, too. Then call it even?
[ Dinner certainly wasn't what Emerick expected to come from this. He had genuinely expected for Moonlight to drop the notion of this and let it go, then be dropped off so that Moonlight could go home alone, the location of his home secret. Even if Moonlight hadn't let it go he'd expected maybe going out to have drinks at another time, or something a little less familiar than this. ]
Yeah, uh, that sounds great. I'd really like that.
[ His surprise was clear, but no wasn't in his vocabulary; if that was what Moonlight wanted to do then he would go along with it (gladly, even, once he got past the surprise). It wasn't like he had anything else to do anyway: all he had at home was a pack of kibble, a bottle of the cheapest beer, and the latest screamsheets to read. ]
[ Moonlight's smile in response is a satisfied one. The address Moonlight gives the cab driver turns out to be a moderately tall apartment building - not precisely a skyscraper. It's nice enough for a lobby and an entrance with security, no obvious graffiti in the elevator or along the hallway. The apartment itself is a somewhat small studio, but the fixer has obviously taken care with how he decorates it. The lights are low, with a calm, aqua tint to them. A pattern like lights glancing off of moving water casts from the lights along the baseboard of one wall. The windows, directly across from the door, are obviously large, but the shades are closed at the moment. There is an inset radio panel, but the only media screen visible is a computer on a long, narrow desk set against another wall. Much like his office, the furniture here is a mix of decent flatpack pieces and more genuine craftsmanship, with carefully selected accents.
Moonlight gestures in welcome, holding the door for Emerick (or at least, he keeps a hand on the frame to keep it from closing itself). ] Beer? [ He offers, crossing to the kitchen with its small two-burner stove. ] Or I have some scotch, if you prefer that.
[ It was clear even from the lobby that this was a standard of living that Emerick had never been able to personally experience. The studio was nice, though, and fit what little Emerick knew about Moonlight perfectly. The atmosphere was calming and the decoration intentional. He wondered what the rent on a place like this was but quickly decided to disregard the thought because he knew he probably couldn't reliably make the rent. Maybe someday. ]
Beer, please. [ He followed Moonlight and found a place to stand or sit where he was out of Moonlight's way. ] You have a real preem place

Date: 2023-09-15 12:47 am (UTC)He's well aware of Emerick being flustered, the stain in his cheeks and the tension in his tone.

Date: 2023-09-16 05:40 am (UTC)He was glad that he did: this was one of those moments that heād known definitively the wouldnāt have, and if heād passed this up heād spend a long time kicking himself over it.

Date: 2023-09-17 02:44 am (UTC)[ The big man casts another glance their way, and Moonlight casually loops his arms around Emerick's shoulders, pressing a kiss to his neck. ] Tell me if he's gonna start something, [ he tells Emerick, voice low and next to his ear again. The music is loud enough it would be difficult to hear him with normal hearing, but Moonlight guesses - what with Emerick's skillset - that he doesn't have 'normal' hearing. ]

Date: 2023-09-18 01:01 am (UTC)He hummed low and quiet to confirm that he heard what Moonlight had said, feeling that shock of needles down his spine as he felt the kiss at his neck, and again with Moonlight's breath at his ear. ]
We're fine for now, but we shouldn't linger.

Date: 2023-09-19 05:31 am (UTC)[ He protests with a playful tone, free hand trailing Emerick's arm before returning to his thigh, higher this time. ] I guess... at least let's finish the drinks you paid for. [ And quickly, preferably. Moonlight is quite sure he's found as much information as he's going to, at least this routeā although now that he's called on Emerick, he supposes maybe eavesdropping was a better task for him in the first place. ]

Date: 2023-09-19 11:38 pm (UTC)I know I just got here, but if I knew you were like this I woulda asked you to just meet me at home.

Date: 2023-09-21 03:38 am (UTC)Oh, are you suggesting something? [ Moonlight winks, moving his hand now to drape a leg over the other man's, more comfortable than being crushed against him, less tacky than actually climbing into his lap. He picks up his drink, downing a considerable amount of it in a few swallows. Attentive as he is to Emerick, he doesn't miss the stare of one of the big man's yes men. Moonlight ignores him. ] I just missed you being away all day at work.

Date: 2023-09-23 04:44 am (UTC)Much like Moonlight, he'd made a dent in his pint by the time he set the glass down.

Date: 2023-09-26 04:55 pm (UTC)When he breaks to speak, his tone is low, velvet. ] Finish your drink and maybe I'll show you exactly what I think you're suggesting. [ And then, innocently, he sits back, leg still draped over Emerick's, and picks up his drink again. He smiles as though he hadn't said anything suggestive. ]

Date: 2023-09-28 04:01 am (UTC)His cheeks were, again, a light pink after Moonlight's words.

Date: 2023-10-17 03:46 am (UTC)I suppose so, [ he finally relents, and lifts his glass with a playful wink. He downs the rest of the drink with a speed one might not expect of someone with Moonlight's particular demeanor. ] After you then.

Date: 2023-10-20 03:13 am (UTC)He pulled away from Moonlight and stood, offering a hand to him.

Date: 2023-10-27 04:45 am (UTC)[ He leans on Emerick, arm around the other man, but is largely quiet until they're safely in the cab and headed away from the bar. The fixer sighs, relaxing a little more into the seat. And, perhaps strangely, while he isn't hanging onto Emerick the way he was, there's something about his demeanor that's more familiar than his normal pleasant cordiality. ] Thank you for coming. I owe you.

Date: 2023-11-04 03:57 am (UTC)Of course.
Really.
no subject
Date: 2023-11-04 04:46 am (UTC)[ Moonlight leans his shoulder into Emerick to play up the act, and even bats his lashes once ore twice - though were the act not already over the top, the grin he can't suppress ruins the effect anyway. ] Do you not trust me, dear?
no subject
Date: 2023-11-04 04:35 pm (UTC)No, no, I trust you. You just... Don't have to, you don't owe me anything.
[ He wasn't trying to shut it down as much as just be clear that Moonlight didn't have to subject himself to Emerick's company if he didn't want to. Because who would willingly want to spend time with him, right? ]
no subject
Date: 2023-11-05 03:55 am (UTC)But in this moment... oddly, he doesn't mind it.

Date: 2023-11-05 11:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, uh, that sounds great.

Date: 2023-11-06 04:01 am (UTC)Moonlight gestures in welcome, holding the door for Emerick (or at least, he keeps a hand on the frame to keep it from closing itself). ] Beer? [ He offers, crossing to the kitchen with its small two-burner stove. ] Or I have some scotch, if you prefer that.

Date: 2023-11-06 04:08 pm (UTC)Beer, please. [ He followed Moonlight and found a place to stand or sit where he was out of Moonlight's way. ] You have a real preem place
